‘Gambit’ Announces February 2019 Release

After almost nine years, we were finally graced with a Deadpool movie February 2016. Now, after waiting another five or so years, we finally have more confirmation for the rumored Gambit solo movie, starring Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, G.I Joe). Gambit was originally planned for a October 7, 2016 release date, but the behind the scenes issues with continual changes on the filmmaker side delayed that. Thankfully, the project is picking up steam again.

A new report from Deadline reported that 20th Century Fox plans for a  February 14, 2019 release date. Seemingly, mirroring Deadpool‘s release date from three years prior. What is it with these X-Men and Valentine’s Day?

Deadline exclusively reported that Gore Verbinski is set to direct the long-in-the-works X-Men movie from Josh Zetumer’s script. Producers are Tatum, Reid Carolin, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.

Chris Claremont and Jim Lee created Gambit for Marvel in 1990. Remy LeBeau, otherwise known as ‘Gambit’ has the ability to charge matter with volatile kinetic energy, causing the object in question to explosively release its charge on impact. The character materialized in a short burst in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine at the time portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.

Fox has scheduled three movies in its expanding “X-Men” universe for 2018, with “New Mutants” set to open on April 13, “Deadpool 2” on June 1, and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” on Nov. 2.
