Doctor Doom Has A Script

The writer for Fargo and Marvel’s Legion, Noah Hawley has completed the script for a project he seems incredibly passionate about.

Hawley has been developing a script based on Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four’s arch nemesis. According to Indiewire, the script has been in development for quite some time but the real obstacle was the Disney and Fox merger, which has now been officially confirmed.

With Fox having the rights to both the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom, there was no way Marvel Studios could produce the movie. Until now. Marvel now own both these assets as well as the X-men and Deadpool, which means eventually we could see them incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Depending on Phase 4’s plan, we may be waiting quite a while.

However, Hawley has still expressed interest in making the film.

“I would love to make it”

“Marvel, they’ve got a 25,000-year plan. I just don’t know if I fit into there.”

So what would a Doctor Doom movie involve? well, Hawley finally spilled some beans. It appears that his story would take place in Latveria, the country ruled by Doctor Doom, and would be a “kind of Cold War, geopolitical movie” that involves Doom trying to send his message to the world. According to Hawley, the film would center on a journalist who is sent to interview Doom.

Already, it doesn’t sound like your typical MCU movie. Would this be an action adventure film? it doesn’t sound like it. This could explain why Hawley hasn’t heard back from Kevin Feige after sending him a script. Perhaps the script is too risky? or perhaps Feige wants to use Doctor Doom in a Fantastic Four movie (seems logical) instead of giving him a solo movie.

I wonder whether Hawley’s vision features the Doctor Doom we all know and love? the iconic mask? the green cape? and the multitude of powers he posses? who knows! But it seems like Hawley won’t be giving in that easily.
