David Harbour Agrees to Officiate a Fan’s Wedding as Hellboy for the Right Amount of Retweets

Stranger Things and Hellboy star David Harbour is quickly becoming the King of internet-based challenges, and he loves it! So far, for the right amount of retweets, he’s appeared in a high school senior’s class photo, and he’s even officiated a wedding already. Harbour loves these challenges so much that just recently he reached out to his Twitter followers to find his next challengers.

Toward the end of September, Harbour tweeted out that he was just about finished filming season 3 of Stranger Things, and that he was looking for some fun to fill that void. He said, “Gearing up to wrap season 3. Will have lil time for more nonsense. Yearbook photos. Penguins. Weddings. Who’s got a retweet challenge to close out 2018?” Several fans responded, but there was one in particular which caught his eye.

A fan by the name of Spencer Perry replied asking Harbour to officiate his upcoming wedding in March. The two had previously met on the set of Hellboy and Perry is a super fan. In his tweet, he mentions having a BPRD (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) tattoo, which of course Hellboy fans and fans of Mike Mignola’s work know all too well.

Perry asked how many retweets he needed for Harbour to officiate his upcoming wedding dressed in full-on Hellboy costume.

At Saturday’s Hellboy panel at New York Comic Con, Harbour announced that he was about to accept a new Twitter challenge. He asked the audience if “Carly from Twitter” was present (she wasn’t) before filling in the crowd on the challenge details. Carly is the soon-to-be bride of Spencer Perry and Harbour had accepted their challenge to officiate their wedding dressed as Hellboy.

At the time, Harbour did not disclose the number of tweets needed, but shortly after, he made things official on Twitter. The magic number needed is appropriately a devilish 666k, with a bonus of Hellboy creator Mike Mignola reading a poem at the ceremony for 500K fewer retweets.

At the time this article was written, the current retweet count is just over 31k, so the couple has a long way to go! Why not log into your Twitter page and help them along?

In addition to Harbour, the upcoming Hellboy film also stars Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchel as Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim as Daimio. The film is due out in theaters on April 12, 2019.
