BBC America to Air Every Modern-Era ‘Doctor Who’ Episode Leading Up to New Season

Whovians everywhere are gearing up to officially welcome their new thirteenth Doctor to the Doctor Who universe, but before her official arrival, BBC America has a marathon of epic proportions planned.

The network will be airing all of Doctor Who‘s modern era episodes over the course of a massive 13-day marathon to honor the new 13th Doctor. Fans can travel back in time and revisit all 10 seasons of rebooted series with all their favorites including former Doctors Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi!

The marathon is being called The 13 Days of Doctor Who and will kick off starting Tuesday, September 25th at 6 AM EST/PST and will culminate with the global premiere of the 11th season on October 7th.

Following the marathon, the new season will kick off with it’s first premiere episode titled The Woman Who Fell to Earth. The exact time of the airing has not yet been announced, however, the premiere will be followed by a special encore performance in its new regular primetime evening slot. Going forward throughout the remainder of the season, Doctor Who will premiere regularly on BBC America on Sunday nights.

From new showrunner Chris Chibnal, in addition to the new doctor (Whittaker), the upcoming season introduces new friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh), for an era packed with action, humor, emotion, and of course, adventures. Though Whittaker’s casting has drawn controversy, her predecessor, Capaldi, fully supports the change. During New York Comic Con in October 2017, he praised Whittaker’s work on the series so far by saying, “She’s amazing.  I’ve seen what she’s done, and you’re in good hands.”

We can’t wait to see what amazing adventures the new Doctor will encounter! Jodie Whittaker makes her official debut on Sunday, October 7th on BBC.
