2019 Game Awards Announcments

If you haven’t heard, the 2019 Game Awards were tonight! We got to find out what the best games from 2019 were. To go along with that we got a slew of new game announcements and even the reveal of a next-generation console. If you couldn’t watch the show live then this is for you! We’ll recap all the big announcements from the show, so without further ado…

Looking for the winners? Right over here!

Xbox Series X

Let’s start with the big one. Microsoft unveiled the next-generation Xbox console. I can’t say I was expecting it to be shown last night, but I’m glad it was. This is a big deal and gives us a good idea of what games could look like starting this time next year. The Xbox Series X is set to hit during the holiday season of 2020, so get your sick days and wallets ready.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade

Microsoft also unveiled the first Xbox Series X game. It’s a sequel to the critically acclaimed Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice. This is awesome news for people who were looking for a sequel. Not only is that fantastic game getting a sequel but it’s bound to look gorgeous on Microsoft’s new hardware.

Weird West

This is a brand new game from some of the people behind Dishonored and Prey. It’s going to be an action RPG that seems to combine elements from the wild west and magic. Not much else is known about it beyond that. The trailer didn’t reveal much, not even a release date but this might be one to keep an eye on.

Dark Alliance

Wizards of the Coast announced a spiritual successor to the 2001 game Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance. This game is an action RPG that promises to deliver couch coop in addition to its online. You’ll be able to embark on a journey that’s inspired by a D&D campaign. The game is set to be released in fall 2020 and a trailer accompanied the announcement.

Prologue

Not much to say on this one. Brendan ‘Playerunknown’ Greene is working on a new game. All we really have to go on is this short teaser trailer and the name: Prologue.

League Of Legends Spin-Offs

There were a couple of League of Legends spin-offs announced, which is exciting for those who are passionate about its world and characters. The first game announced was a turn-based RPG and gives me the impression that it will be heavy on story content. Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is in development for consoles and PC. No release date. The second spin-off revealed was a platformer, referred to as Convergence. You can check the trailer for that one out here!

Godfall

Gearbox had a brand new game to show off as well. Godfall is slated for a Holiday 2020 release and is in development for PC and Playstation 5. That’s not a typo, this is the first trailer we’ve seen for a PS5 game. More details about the game are sure to roll out as we get closer to its release. For now, we have a pretty cool looking trailer to ogle.

Bravely Default II

If, like me, you’ve been wondering where the next game in the ‘Bravely’ series has been then you’ll be happy with this one. It was announced that Bravely Default II is currently in development for the switch. Nintendo has previously said they wanted to bring other 3DS series to the switch. I’m glad that Bravely Default made the cut! In terms of release date, the only info we got is that it would be out sometime in 2020. That’s too long if you ask me.

Nine-To-Five

Redhill Games will be releasing a team-based tactical shooter at some point in the future. There’s no word on a release date but you can sign up for Alpha testing at their website.

Sons Of The Forest

Endnight Games announced Sons of the Forest, a sequel to their 2014 game The Forest. The original was a survival horror that had you surviving in, well, the forest. It’s unclear on whether or not the sequel will be exactly the same, the only hints we have are the twisted trailer that was shown during the Game Awards.

Naraka: Bladepoint

This one was actually teased last week but I’m glad we didn’t have to wait long for the reveal. This is reportedly a multiplayer game, with it being described as “Unchained multiplayer combat.” which is enough to leave one wondering. You seemingly play as a ninja and, I assume, fight other players. No full release date for this one either, just a release year of 2020.

Surgeon Simulator 2

Another one of the ‘2020’ games, it promises more ridiculous surgeon shenanigans. Surgeon Simulator was never my own personal cup of tea, but I’m sure those who do enjoy it will be pleased by this reveal.

The Wolf Among Us 2

Previously revealed last December, the Game Awards gave us our first trailer for the long-awaited sequel to The Wolf Among Us. This is one of those trailers that doesn’t show too much but was nice to see anyway. This one didn’t even have a release year though, which doesn’t bode well for those who want to sink their teeth into this one immediately.

Fast & Furious Crossroads

In May of 2020, we’ll be able to get our hands on Fast & Furious Crossroads. It looks as ridiculous as the Fast & Furious movies.

Magic: Legends

It looks like we’ll also be getting a free-to-play MMORPG set in the world of Magic The Gathering. You’ll take on the role of a Planeswalker and explore the rich world of Magic The Gathering. No release date but you can sign up for the beta.

Path Of The Warrior

If you were a fan of beat ’em ups back during the Snes era, this game might be for you! It’s basically one of those except in VR. No wait for this one, you can go buy and play it now. Provided you have an Oculus, of course.

Ultimate Rivals: The Rink

Also available now, Apple showed off this weird sports mashup game

That, more or less, does it for all the big reveals. This isn’t everything that was revealed there though, these are only the announcements and reveals! Do you want to check out the already announced games that got trailers or DLC info? We have that for you too, right oveeeeer… here!
