Disney Being Sued Over ‘Frozen 2’
Despite Frozen 2‘s success, TMZ is reporting that there could be potential litigation ahead. According to the site, Disney is being sued for using the slogan “Trust Your Journey” on its Frozen 2 related merchandise. A Nevada-based company called “Trust Your Journey” that was “formed as a result of a personal fight and victory over breast cancer” is claiming ownership of the words.
“Trust Your Journey says it’s been using the slogan since at least 2007 and already has its name on a bunch of its own merch,” TMZ writes. “Trust Your Journey says its items are also sold at gift shops and through QVC and Cracker Barrel… and have grossed nearly $4 million in sales.”
According to the report, Trust Your Journey wants Disney to stop using the slogan and to compensate the company. TMZ says Disney could not be reached for comment.
Sometimes these things are a coincidence but other times they are not. The company does own the trademark to the slogan, so there could be a lot more to this story ahead.
Frozen 2 has been a resounding box office success and now it can claim the same for the Billboard 200 albums chart, along with its merchandise.
The album as released on November 15 by Walt Disney Records and we previously number three on the charts and then, with 80,000 units sold, it’s now risen to number one. Amazingly, Frozen 2 is the first full-length soundtrack to reach number one in 2019.
The Frozen 2 soundtrack features performances of songs heard in the film by the movie’s by Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Evan Rachel Wood. The album also features covers of those same songs by Panic! at the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer.
In Frozen 2, Elsa the Snow Queen and her sister Anna embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. They are joined by friends, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven.
The movie premiered November 22, 2019 and is still in theaters and dominating the box office, so its no surprise that music and merchandise are also selling too!
