Avengers: Jack Black Says ‘Nacho Libre’ Should Be Recruited

If the Avengers are recruiting, Jack Black says that ‘Nacho Libre’ is the man for the job.

The 2006 film, starring Black, finds Black as Ignacio, or Nacho to his friends, who works as a cook in the Mexican monastery where he grew up. The monastery is home to a host of orphans whom Nacho cares for deeply, but there is not much money to feed them properly.

Nacho decides to raise money for the children by moonlighting as a Lucha Libre wrestler with his partner Esqueleto (Héctor Jiménez), but since the church forbids Lucha, Nacho must disguise his identity.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Black was asked about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Black said, “I don’t have any plans. I mean, I feel like Nacho Libre was kind of a superhero. He wore a costume and fought crime and was a hero of sorts. So, I guess I’ve already scratched that itch, as it were.”

“Unless they want to, ya know, add Nacho to the MCU, you never know. I think he’d be an awesome addition to the Avengers team.”

Nacho Libre as not considered a critical success but as time has passed it has developed a cult following.  Essentially, it’s one of those movies that gets funnier with time and demonstrates Black’s comedy genius.

Black is currently promoting his newest film, Jumanji 2: The Next Level, with fellow cast mates Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.
