Tom Hiddleston Reacts to Unreleased Footage of Him Auditioning as ‘Thor’

Tom Hiddleston will be returning as ‘Loki’ in 2020 via the new Disney+ streaming channel.  However, very few people know that Hiddleston originally auditioned for the role of ‘Thor’ before being bestowed Thor’s mischievous brother in the hit Marvel films.

Hiddleston was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his new Broadway show, Betrayl, which also stars Marvel Universe star, the Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox. In fact, the same day of his appearance, Hiddleston ran into some of his Marvel cast mates on the way to The Tonight Show.

Upon arrival, Jimmy Fallon shared a video of a blonde-haired Hiddleston’s audition for Thor. In the video, Hiddleston’s Thor says, “And remember, you chose this. For (inaudible),” as he swings around his hammer.  Now we believe he said, “For Outland!” But, “For Asgard,” would make much more sense.

Fallon and Hiddleston both laughed at the clip, as the audience cheered.  To which Hiddleston graciously and sarcastically replied, “You really are too kind,” he continued, “I think we can really all agree that they cast the right actor.”

Hiddleston said that the audition process for Thor took three months and that he never auditioned for the role of Loki, but instead was asked to take the part.

We’re certainly thrilled with how the roles turned out and we are looking forward to seeing Loki on Disney+ later next year!

What are your thoughts? Do you think Hiddleston would have made a good Thor? Let us know in the comments below!
