The Snyder Cut Round-Up
Yesterday marked 2 years since Justice League was released and social media went berserk. Now, if you have been following us recently we’ve been sharing some of the updates surrounding the ‘Snyder Cut’ but yesterday took things to a whole new level.
For those who aren’t quite sure what we mean by ‘Snyder Cut’, let me explain. During the filming of Justice League, Zack unfortunately had to step down due to a very sad and tragic loss. While Zack was away, Warner Brothers decided to step in and get Joss Whedon to finish the film. Originally, we were made to believe that only a few scenes and shots needed completing. However, this wasn’t the case. From the numerous images and storyboards we’ve seen from Zack himself, it appears as though the entire framework was altered. Not just the story, but the characters, the music, the visuals and the dialogue were all changed. Snyder hasn’t actually seen the theatrical cut of Justice League.
Months passed and slowly we started receiving information from Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa and other crew members. Apparently, a cut of Snyder’s version existed and it became dubbed as the Snyder Cut. People were unsure whether it was the truth or just a myth to get fans excited. Well, I hope that after yesterday more people are on board.
So what did happen?
Last week, we received loads of cool new images directly from the Snyder Cut. You can read about them here and here. Then the big day came. 2 years. The hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut began to trend. First it reached 100,000 tweets, then 200,000… and then it just kept on climbing. By this morning, the hashtag was trending with nearly 700,000 tweets. I have seen fans come together for big events before. Trailers, midnight releases, speculation and celebration. However, this was something else entirely. Hundreds of thousands of people banded together. As fans we really want to see Zack had to offer. Of course, many people don’t like what he did with the DC characters but he had a passion for these characters and some very cool ideas- many of which were stripped away.
The day changed when prolific characters started to get involved. Here is a quick rundown.

This may not be Snyder Cut-related but Tom Holkenborg was the original composer of Justice League and decided to share this. Again, it could be completely unrelated but we know that the score is complete so… who knows!

Black Manta himself also joined the fight.
As you can see, a lot of people want this to happen. I also want it. I’m a huge superhero and DC fan. I can understand and appreciate the criticisms surrounding Snyder’s films but I love what he does. So seeing his original cut would mean the world to me, and many others.
This movement has been a very wild journey and it definitely reached its peak. It’s hard to predict what will happen next but our goal is to see the original film. It’s that simple. Or maybe it isn’t. The logistics are something I don’t quite understand but all I know is that it is down to Warner Brothers.
The day is still young and many are still shouting as loud as they can.
For now, take a bow DC Fans. You did a great job.
You can still do your part. Tweet #ReleaseTheSnyderCut and let us know your thoughts. Do you think we will get it soon? How did you get involved? Let us know in the comments.
