Hans Zimmer is of course known for his music from Gladiator, Inception and Pirates of the Caribbean, but the legendary composer has said that the BBC series is one of the projects he is most proud of:

Planet Earth II is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever been involved in. Some of the greatest action scenes ever put on film, some of the most emotional, epic, fragile scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Filmmaking at its absolute peak.”

The arena tour will be hosted by science and natural history TV presenter Liz Bonnin, who has presented over 40 programmes including Blue Planet LiveGalapagos and Horizon.

“I am so honored to have the role of host on the Planet Earth II Live in Concert arena tour. The TV series included some absolutely breathtaking sequences. Who can ever forget the marine iguana fighting for its life as it escaped those racer snakes?”

I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Liz this week and what an experience it was. We discussed the show itself and what audiences can expect. It sounds as though we will be getting some magnificent scenes on the big screen along with some compilations. With so much footage to deal it, it’s great knowing that they have found a way to utilize as much as possible, offering a wide range of fan favourite scenes with scenes that truly show off the soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea & Jasha Klebe.

As well as being our navigator throughout the show, Liz will also provide behind-the-scene stories. The film crew for Planet Earth II spent over 2,000 days in the field in 40 different countries. You can guarantee that some of those long days of filming have some very interesting stories attached to them. This show is promising to be a fantastic revisit to one of the most outstanding shows to grace our screens. It will also be a wonderful expansion where the audience can learn how such a massive show is actually created.

One of the highlights from our chat gravitated around the Earths condition. Now, Planet Earth II In Concert comes at pretty sensitive time. Around the world, demonstrations are taking place demanding that people look at how our planet is changing. In fact, in London this week the Extinction Rebellion have been protesting in order to raise awareness and spark action in regards to the global climate emergency that we are facing.

What Liz was able to project so beautifully was how shows such as Planet Earth II, Blue Planet, and indeed this concert, while displaying the absolute wonders of this world, can actually mobilize and motivate people. Highlighting the beauty of our world and the vast forms of nature that inhabit it, we believe, has the power to make people question the ways in which the Earth is treated and emphasize the necessity to protect it.

This concert is an unbelievable opportunity to witness the magic of planet Earth with an epic and moving soundtrack. But at the same time, it’s also an experience that can unite everyone watching.
