‘The Walking Dead’ Spinoff Taps ‘Younger’ Star Nico Tortorella For Leading Role
The new Walking Dead spinoff will follow a younger group of characters and it looks like AMC is taking that literally in their casting. According to Deadline, the untitled series has tapped Younger star Nico Tortorella as one of the main leads.
The spinoff will follow two young female protagonists and the “first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse”. Tortorella will be playing Felix, “an honorable man of his word who isn’t afraid to fight for others’ safety”. He joins the already cast Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: The Dark Web), Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball), and Hal Cumpston. AMC recently dropped a teaser, which introduced fans to the cast and vital concept art, including a plane crash.

The series marks the third story in The Walking Dead franchise behind the 2009 flagship series and 2015’s Fear the Walking Dead. The new addition will give AMC the ability to air Walking Dead content throughout the entire year. In addition, Andrew Lincoln will be appearing in a film trilogy centered on his character Rick Grimes. It has begun filming its 10-episode season in Virginia and will hit AMC next Spring.
Tortorella has been starring as Josh on TV Land’s Younger since 2015. While the series was just renewed for a seventh season, Tortorella’s Walking Dead role will not have an impact. Other credits include The Following, Make it Or Break It, and Scream 4.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
