The 2019 Emmy Nominations Have Arrived

Pop, NBC, HBO

This morning Community’s Ken Jeong and The Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden announced the nominees for the 71st annual Emmy Awards and as usual, the biggest night in television is coming with a mix of snubs and surprises! Despite a tough season plot-wise, it’s hard to deny the acting chops on HBO’s Game of Thrones. The series walked away with an astounding 32 nominations including first-time nominations for Sophie Turner, Alfie Allen, and Maisie Williams in the supporting categories. This Is Us star Mandy Moore finally picked up her first nomination and both Sandra Oh and Jodie Komer both found nominations in the leading actress category for Killing Eve.

HBO Game of Thrones

On the comedy front, our prayers were answered the darling Schitt’s Creek picked up a few nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series and leading nominations for the legendary Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy. Amazon’s Fleabag also felt the love as did The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In addition to Bill Hader, Barry also picked up three nominations in the supporting actor category for Anthony Carrigan, Stephen Root, and Henry Winkler.

Pop

Over in the Limited Series category, it seems that the competition is going to be between Netflix’s When They See Us, HBO’s Chernobyl, and Escape at Dannemora. A nice surprise nomination was Joey King for her work in Hulu’s The Act as well as Jharrel Jerome and Aante Blackk from When They See Us.
