‘Looking For Alaska’ Series to Hit Hulu This Fall

Dutton Juvenile & Hulu

It may have taken thirteen years, but John Green’s best-selling YA novel Looking For Alaska is finally making its way to the screen! Hulu, which announced that it would be adapting the novel as an eight-episode limited series last year, revealed that the series would be premiering on the streaming site Friday, October 18th.

From Paramount Television and The OC’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Looking For Alaska, follows Miles Halter, a young man fascinated by famous last words–and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps.” Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young, a clever, funny, screwed-up, and beautiful girl who will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Boardwalk Empire and Granite Flats’ Charlie Plummer will be playing Miles Halter with The Society and Sierra Burgess is a Loser’s Kristine Froseth playing Alaska. The series also stars Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) and Timothy Simons (Veepin addition to Denny Love, Jay Lee, Landry Bender, Sofia Vassilieva, Uriah Shelton and Jordan Connor.

Looking for Alaska has been a passion project for The O.C.’s Josh Schwartz who will serve as Executive Producer and Showrunner. He was given Green’s unpublished manuscript back in 2005 and worked diligently to turn it into a movie, which unfortunately never came to fruition. Years later Schwartz approached Green again with the idea of a limited series instead and with the help of Paramount TV president Amy Powell they were able to re-acquire the rights. Schwartz and Savage are the team behind another popular Hulu series, The Runaways, so they will feel right at home with Looking for Alaska.

Looking for Alaska marks the third John Green adaption. His novels The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns were both turned into very successful films. Are you excited for Looking for Alaska to hit Hulu? Be sure to tune in on October 18th!
