New ‘The Lion King’ Posters

Walt Disney Studios

The new Lion King movie is almost upon us with just over a month to go, and I didn’t think I would be this excited. After such an epic and beautiful trailer, Disney have dropped some new character posters which give us a stunning look at our favourite characters and their more realistic appearance- lets face it, not many lions look like Scar.

These new posters were shared online via Jon Favreau’s Instagram account. You can check them out below.

Check out the official synopsis, although I’m pretty sure we know how it goes!

“The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. Utilizing pioneering film making techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.”

The question to ask is what will change in comparison to the iconic animated film from 1994. With each remake, while the main narrative remains mostly the same, there are always slight variations. Whatever happens, people are pumped to see the return of our most beloved characters in a way we’ve never seen them before. Out of all of the characters, I am most excited to see Scar. In his animated form his presence and colour scheme just shouted “he’s the villain”, to transform that and make that work in this new format is going to be very interesting.

While we wait, I want to know what you are most excited for, whether it’s the songs, the soundtrack, the animation, or hearing Seth Rogen sing, let us know in the comments.

The Lion King stars Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones and is directed by Jon Favreau. The Visually stunning remake is set to roar into theaters in July 19th, 2019.
