Richard Madden Wins the Internet Today With His ‘Game of Thrones’ TBT
Game of Thrones may have been on the air for the past eight years, but the cast and crew go back almost a decade. And on this wonderful Thursday afternoon, Richard Madden posted a Throwback Thursday that deserves some extra attention and applause. If you’ll recall, Madden played the eldest Stark sibling, Robb, throughout the show’s first three seasons, consistently giving a strong and emotional performance until his death at the devastating Red Wedding.
While Game of Thrones follows a ton of characters in various locations, the pilot episode holds a special place in the hearts of fans as it was the only time that all of the Starks were in Winterfell (along with Theon Greyjoy) and all was right in the world. In real life, the actors were all just strangers about to embark on a completely epic journey together.
So, fast forward to today when Richard Madden posted this absolute gem of himself, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Alfie Allen (Theon) looking like actual children after the first table read of “Winter is Coming”. He captioned the photo: “#TBT This is Kit, Alfie and I after our first read-through of S1 Ep1 of Game of Thrones about 10 years ago. KIDZ.” 2009 really was a special time for fashion.
Hopefully, as the series begins to come to a close, more stars (both past and present) will post more throwbacks from throughout the years for our viewing pleasure. As for Madden? While he may no longer be on the Game of Thrones, the actor is still making waves in Hollywood. He recently starred in the British drama The Bodyguard, for which he won his first Golden Globe Award, and will soon be appearing in the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman.
Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 on HBO!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
