‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel Casts Jordan Fisher as John Ambrose

Peter Kavinsky officially has some competition. Fresh off his performance in Rent: Live, Jordan Fisher is making his way over to one of the most anticipated Netflix films of 2019 – the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel. He will be playing John Ambrose McClaren, one of the recipients of Lara Jean’s letters. He confirmed his casting with this adorable video with Lana Condor on set.

The film’s producer Matt Kaplan released a statement to EW after the casting announcement as well.

[row]“We couldn’t be more excited to have Jordan Fisher join the To All the Boys family as John Ambrose McClaren. Jordan’s charisma practically leaps off the screen with anything he does, whether it’s acting, singing, or dancing. There isn’t a more perfect guy who could believably shake things up in Lara Jean and Peter’s world.”[/row]

Fans will recall that John Ambrose McClaren (played by Jordan Burtchett) technically arrived in the mid-credits scene in the first film, but after the movie’s unprecedented success, it made sense for Netflix to move forward with a recast and Fisher is a perfect fit.

In the books, John Ambrose definitely shakes things up for Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) who are just beginning to navigate a real relationship together.

[row]The struggle of what that means and not having a contract and trust — all those issues that they talk about on the field at the very last scene. Relationships are hard to navigate and they’ll find themselves in one. And they’ll discover what the next person might bring in John Ambrose McClaren,” director Susan Johnson explained to  Entertainment Tonight  last year.[/row]

In addition to Rent Live, Fisher also appeared in Fox’s performance of Grease Live. Other credits include Disney’s Teen Beach Movies, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Teen Wolf, and Liv and Maddie.  Are you excited to see Fisher join To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before? The film currently does not have a release date but we will be sure to keep you updated!
