Watch the Creepy New Trailer for Guillermo de Toro’s ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’
The first full trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has finally arrived, and it’s everything we hoped that it would be.
The new trailer creepily brings to life the stories so many of us grew up with. Inspired by one of the most terrifying children’s book series of all time, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. This new look at the upcoming film shows just how the individual short stories will be connected creating what looks to be a super fun and super scary summer flick.

The original Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book was released in 1981 with follow up volumes including More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (1984) and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones (1991). Each volume contained a series of terrifying short stories drawing from urban legends and local folklore accompanied by macabre illustrations by Stephen Gammell. The book series became an international best-seller.
The film stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
André Øvredal directs with del Toro co-writing and producing the film along with Daniel and Kevin Hageman. Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason F. Brown, and J. Miles Dale are also producing along with del Toro.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be creeping into theaters on August 9, 2019!
