Michael Cudlitz Will Return to Direct in ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 10

Once you become a member of The Walking Dead family, you’re always a member of The Walking Dead family. Even though series alum Michael Cudlitz has a new TV family of his own on ABC’s The Kids Are Alright, he is still managing to find his way back home to The Walking Dead once more.

This week, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Cudlitz would be returning to the series to direct an upcoming episode in the show’s tenth season.

Cudlitz revealed the news while chatting with EW about the new cast members who have joined the series over the past couple of seasons. When asked about the recent turnover on the series, and about the new actors which have joined the show, he said:

[row] “As far as the new people coming in, I’ve met most of the new people, except Samantha Morton. Ryan Hurst has come on, but I’ve known Ryan. Ryan and I used to go for stuff all the time because we’re bigger actors. He’s much bigger than me, but we would go in for stuff all the time against each other. I’ve actually worked with him about eight or 10 years ago.”[/row]

He then added:

[row]“I know the other cast members because I was fortunate enough to go back last year and direct, and I’m going to go back this spring and direct another one. I’m directing episode 3 of season 10.”[/row]

This is super exciting news as Cudlitz did a fantastic job his first time out as the director on the series. He previously made his directorial debut during The Walking Dead‘s ninth season in episode seven which was titled Stradivarius. During the episode, viewers got the chance to catch up with fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and learn a bit about where he has been living during the 6-year time jump.

We’re thrilled to see more amazing direction from Michael Cudlitz in the upcoming season 10 of The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead season 9 finale airs Sunday, March 31st at 9 PM EST on AMC.
