Vanessa Hudgens is Starring a New Netflix Christmas Movie and the Premise is Already Iconic

If Candace Cameron-Bure is the queen of Hallmark Christmas movies than I am formally casting my vote to make Vanessa Hudgens the queen of Netflix Christmas movies. Sure, A Christmas Prince is pretty great in its own right, but after Hudgens’ delightful performance in The Princess Switch, I was praying that she would hop on a horse-drawn sleigh and return this holiday season. And back she is. Netflix announced today that Hudgens would be executive producing and starring in their new Christmas movie The Knight Before Christmas, and if you’re wondering just how literal that pun is, allow us to expand.

According to Deadline, The Knight Before Christmas follows “a gallant English knight (Poldark’s Josh Whitehouse), who seeks out his true quest after a sorceress inadvertently sends him from the medieval era to present day. While there he soon finds himself falling for a caring high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love.” I mean, come on. That is somehow even better than Hudgens realizing she had a royal doppelganger at an international bake-off.

The film will be directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Cara Russell. The streaming service announced the news on social media as well.

Two years ago, Netflix decided to dip their feet into the Christmas movie market that Hallmark and Lifetime had been basking in for years. Whether you were here for it or not, from that decision, A Christmas Prince was born and we were never the same. In fact, somehow that film has turned into a trilogy and the third installment titled A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby is set to premiere this holiday season as well.
