Michael Cudlitz Teases a Possible Return for Abraham Ford on ’The Walking Dead’

Season nine of AMC’s The Walking Dead has certainly had a reoccurring theme of playing with time. In addition to this season’s multiple time jumps into the future, we’ve also seen the series, in the past two episodes, in particular, explore what happened in the past. By doing so, showrunner Angela Kang has brilliantly laid out the groundwork for the series to continue on for years and years to come if given the chance. With there being so much missed time on the series, could that possibly also leave the door open for departed characters to make a return in flashbacks? If you were to ask The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz, he certainly thinks that’s possible!

On Tuesday, Cudlitz dropped by Strahan and Sara to chat about his new ABC show The Kids Are Alright. While there, co-host Michael Strahan broached the topic of possibly returning to the zombie apocalypse. When asked if it was possible for Cudlitz’s beloved character Abraham Ford to make a return on the series, at first Cudlitz replied with an, “I don’t know,” answer before digging a little deeper. He said:

[row]”The show has sort of laid that out in its history. The way they tell stories is through flashbacks and origin stories, so there are still characters on the show that were very close with Abraham, that he had a history with. So, it could very easily go back. They’re also doing other movies which are going to move in time – go back in time, go forward in time, and I believe pair up characters that weren’t necessarily paired up in the graphic novels.”[/row]

While Cudlitz’s answer explores all the possibilities that a return could be possible, Sara Haines went in for the official answer by responding, “I think I heard a yes somewhere in there?”

Cudlitz kept it real though and replied, “It’s a very strong, subtle “yes.” It’s very, very possible.”

Check out the clip below.

While a “very possible” answer from Cudlitz certainly isn’t a “yes” that he will be returning, The Walking Dead viewers certainly would love to see more of his colorful character Abraham Ford back on their televisions, even if it’s for just a brief moment.

What do you think? Would you want to see Michael Cudlitz reprise his role as Abraham Ford in either a The Walking Dead flashback, spinoff or in the upcoming movies? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
