Lucy Hale is headed back to The CW as lead in ‘Katy Keene’

Katy Keene has found it’s star. The upcoming CW show has just announced Lucy Hale has been signed as the titular character in the new Riverdale spinoff, based on the comics of the same name. Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared the news today on twitter with a delightful side by side of Hale and the original Katy. Hale herself hasn’t posted anything official yet, but has been busy liking reactions to the news.

Hale is no stranger to hit TV or The CW, being most known for her 7 season stint as Aria Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars, she also starred in short lived shows Life Sentence and Privileged which both aired on the network. Fingers crossed third time is the charm Hale with Katy Keene.

The show focuses on Katy and her dreams of making it big on Broadway whilst living in NYC with her friends, including Riverdale’s own Josie McCoy played by Ashleigh Murray who will be making the leap, and time jump, to NYC in an aged up role. Hale will be showcasing her vocal talents, having previously released a studio album Road Between back in 2014.

Since leaving The CW after Life Sentence’s cancellation, Hale appeared in a handful of film roles such as Truth or Dare and Netflix’s Dude, so fans are likely to be thrilled at the thought of Hale returning weekly to their screens.
