The First Trailer for the New ‘Child’s Play’ Film Offers a Glimpse at the Technologically Advanced Killer Doll

On Friday, MGM and Orion Pictures dropped our very first look at the upcoming Child’s Play movie reboot.

The first teaser offers a creepy glimpse of the revamped, modern retelling of the classic horror tale involving a possessed doll who wants to murder everyone. This time, however, he’s equipped with some serious technological upgrades. Chucky is your brand-new best friend, and also your worst nightmare.

Check out the first teaser for the upcoming film below.

The upcoming film boasts an impressive cast including  Aubrey Plaza (Legion, Parks and Recreation), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, If Beale Street Could Talk), and Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out, American Gothic). Much like the original franchise, the reimagined Child’s Play will follow Karen (Plaza), a mother who gives her son Andy (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

New and rising filmmaker Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) is on board to direct with a screenplay was written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury) based on the original film. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will produce under their KatzSmith Productions banner.

In addition to this remake film, there is also a television series in the works from original franchise creator Don Mancini. Mancini is not involved with the film, but it looks like we will be getting two separately awesome versions of serial killing doll stories.

The new Child’s Play will be coming to theaters on June 21, 2019.
