What To Expect In The ‘Anthem’ Demo
I am super crazy excited for Anthem. Since the gameplay was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference in 2017, I have been patiently awaiting a chance to play it. I managed to get into the alpha but I signed a non-disclosure agreement so all I can tell you is it played well. However, this weekend will provide the first opportunity for the masses to get their hands on a robot death suit.
I know you like me have watched a bunch of videos on the gameplay and how the game works, but until you get that experience handling it you cannot be sure what to expect. BioWare’s Mark Darrah, executive producer for Anthem, shot out a tweet to let you know at least what to expect from the demo.
So how’s the Anthem demo different from the game?
– we start you in the middle
– no tutorials
– no pilot picker
– balance is super different
– economy is completely different
– 6 weeks less bug fixes

– with only 1 story arc, I think the mission/stronghold/freeplay balance will be off a bit
– slightly less nuanced PC controls
– we’ve renamed a few things for clarity in the main game— Mark Darrah (@BioMarkDarrah) January 19, 2019
The tweets read-

Quick takeaways from everything, sounds like we do not have to worry about any story spoilers due to starting in the middle and only one story arc. You may not figure out everything you can do given the lack of tutorials. Everything will be rebalanced and what stuff costs in the demo will change before release. You also may end up coming across some bugs.
Darrah also stated we should be able to download the demo starting tomorrow, January 23rd, so we can be ready to armor up this weekend. The VIP demo begins January 25th through the 27th for those who have pre-ordered or if you have an EA/Origin Access subscription. For those who still are not sure on it? No worries. Anthem will have a public version of the demo on February 1st lasting through the 3rd. After that, you just have to wait for release, or the eventual trial on EA Access which has yet to be detailed.
Anthem will arrive February 22nd, 2019, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think of Anthem? Are you planning to play either of the demos? Put on your Javelin and fire your comment below.
