The Whisperers Alpha and Beta Arrive in this Creepy New ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 9B Teaser

There’s a whole new terror lurking in the apocalypse when The Walking Dead returns in February, and AMC has just given fans one of the creepiest looks yet at the new horrifying group.

On Thursday, the network released a brand new teaser for the second half of season 9 which is truly unsettling. The brief teaser starts with point-of-view shots of someone spying on the survivors at Alexandria, the Kingdom, and even a solo Daryl walking through the woods. The teaser then cuts to a small herd of “walkers” roaming forward toward the camera before they stop dead in their tracks at the sight of two other “walkers” standing in their way. These are no ordinary walkers. It’s the Whisperers! If you listen closely, a faint whisper can be heard saying, “they do not belong here,” just before a close-up shot of Alpha, the Whisperer’s leader.

Check out the spin-chilling teaser below.

The first half of season 9 introduced a whole new level of villain into The Walking Dead world. The Whisperers have finally arrived, and they are already beginning to claim the lives of our beloved characters. Sadly, Paul “Jesus” Rovia (played by Tom Payne) was the first casualty claimed by the walker-skin clad group.

Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst is joining the series in the role of Beta, a pivotal villainous character from the comic book source materials. Beta is the second in command to Alpha (played by Samantha Morton) as leader of the Whisperers. The group is known for wearing walker skin to blend in with roaming herds while communicating through faint whispers which, to someone not paying close attention, simply sound like walker groans.

A brand new synopsis for the second half of the season teases “disturbing and terrifying” trouble ahead as we dive deeper into the world of the Whisperers. Check out the new synopsis below.

[row]“The second half of “The Walking Dead” Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.”[/row]

It’s a whole new ball game in the zombie apocalypse when The Walking Dead returns on February 10th on AMC.
