Isn’t It About Time For A Nintendo Direct?

So we have just now arrived in 2019. Understandably video game news can be a bit slow. But correct me if I am wrong, but we have not heard anything from Nintendo since November when they gave us a few Super Smash Bros Ultimate updates before launch. Doesn’t it seem with us missing any big Winter or Spring launch dates that it’s time for Nintendo to emerge from hibernation?

I will admit, earlier today I was fooled by a fake twitter account to think we were getting a new Nintendo Direct. Even so, here are some games we should get some info on if Nintendo will answer my plea for a Direct this month.

  • Yoshi’s Crafted World

The follow up to Yoshi’s Woolly World, Nintendo has been teasing this game for awhile, and we have even seen gameplay of it. Given they have been silent, Yoshi’s Crafted World seems due to finally get a release date. The cute whimsy platformer seems like it would place well either at the end of February or the beginning of March.

*UPDATE – Yoshi’s Crafted World is now scheduled to release March 29th!*

  • Metroid Prime 4

I understand, there is no way this game releases before June. I honestly do not see this releasing anywhere before October at the earliest. But to finally see the first trailer at the very end of the Direct is something I could see Nintendo doing to stir us up. They did similarly with Super Smash Bros Ultimate early last year.

  • Bayonetta 3

This game is way out of left field for me to choose, but it is another one we have not heard about in forever. It also seems like a game primed for an April through July release. Bayonetta is seemingly a Nintendo exclusive, and anytime you can flaunt one of those you had better do it.

  • Indies, lots of indies

Indie games have found a nice home on the Switch, and they should continue because they fit the console so well. Some games just feel better on the portable console, like Hollow Knight. While we always want something new, I would like to see a few ports in Donut Country, Untitled Goose Game, Papers… Please, and Return of the Obra Dinn. Only one of those is slated to hit, and the other would be delightful on the Switch.

There are a few things I expect out of the next Nintendo Direct, hopefully happening soon. How about you? Anything you think Nintendo could announce that I left out? Woohoo over to the comments and waahaa your thoughts below!
