DC Comics’ ‘Shazam!’ Might Not Get a Sequel. David F. Sandberg Explains

Aquaman just hit the theaters, and now it is time to start looking forward to another DC Comics film in April. With the months slinking closer to the release date and the movie just having finished some reshoots, we are desperately waiting on another look at the film (hint: we really would love a trailer, pretty please).

It’s already done in the past before a DC movie hit the theater Warner already looked at possibilities for sequels (I don’t have to remind you for Suicide Squad 2, or for Batman V. Superman). For some reason, we haven’t heard anything about a Shazam sequel.

A fan recently took to Twitter, tagging both Aquaman director James Wan and David F. Sanberg to ask why they both wanted to take a break from comic book movies. Lucky for us, Shazam! director David F. Sanberg replied to the fan and answered on why he wouldn’t want to do the sequel straight away.

The tweet reads: “It’s just that it takes a crazy amount of work to do a movie like this. It’s like asking a runner at the end of a marathon if they feel like doing another one. You need some time to rest and forget how difficult it was.”

Now, come on guys, I know this feels like he might never look back to it, but there is hope! Let him recharge from this movie, let it get its release first and then start thinking about a super badass sequel. What will Warner Bros. do though? Will they wait to see if the movie is a success, and wait for David F. Sanberg to be ready to fly back into it? Or will they go with another director? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Shazam! will fly into the theaters on April 5, 2019.
