‘Walking Dead’ Alum Alexandra Breckenridge Cast in New Netflix Series

The Walking Dead’s Alexandra Breckenridge has been cast to star in a new Netflix romantic drama series titled Virgin River alongside Grey’s Anatomy’s Martin Henderson. Virgin River will be based on Robyn Carr’s Harlequin book series and will feature a ten-episode debut season.

According to TVLine, the series follows “Melinda Monroe (Breckenridge), who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.” Henderson will be stepping into the role of “Jack Sheridan, a sharp-witted ex-Marine commander who moved to Virgin River after his service was over in search of a peaceful life, far away from the horrors of war.”

Also joining the cast is The Originals’ Daniel Gilles, The West Wing’s Tim Matheson, Smallville’s Annette O’Toole, Arrow’s Lexa Doig, Bates Motel’s Ian Tracey, and Riverdale’s Colin Lawrence. The series will be led by 7th Heaven and Cedar Cove’s Sue Tenney.

Breckenridge appeared on seasons one and three of FX’s American Horror Story anthology series in 2011 and 2013. Shortly after she joined The Walking Dead where she played Rick’s love interest in Alexandria, Jessie Anderson. Since leaving the zombie series, Breckenridge guest-starred on NBC’s This Is Us as Kevin’s ex-wife Sophie and recently appeared in a Lifetime Christmas movie called Christmas Around the Corner.
