Red Dead Redemption 2, God Of War Big Winners at The Game Awards 2018

It is that time of year again! The time where we shamelessly parade games in front of us to give them a thumbs up or down. In all seriousness, video games are a growing medium that deserve recognition in an entertainment industry with awards shows like the Oscars and Grammys. Geoff Keighley, previously of G4 Tv, created The Game Awards in 2014 in order to rectify this problem.

This years slate featured a bunch of heavy hitters such as Red Dead Redemption 2, God Of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and more. There have been very few years like this where everything nominated truly deserved to walk away with hardware. But something has to give, and here is your list of winners for the 2018 Game Awards!

Some quick thoughts on the winners! Red Dead Redemption 2 may have won the most awards with four, but it did not grab the most coveted hardware. That went to God Of War, who totaled three wins. Dead Cells also surprised with Best Action Game against tough competition.

I was very disappointed to see the voters shy away from giving Marvel’s Spider-Man any awards. While it may not have deserved Game Of The Year, I thought Yuri Lowenthal absolutely should have gotten Best Performance. That man put his heart and soul into the role, and he is exactly what I will now expect from whoever plays Spider-Man in a video game.
