DC Universe’s ‘Swamp Thing’ Begins Production

The DC Universe streaming platform is getting bigger by the time you look back on it, and so is the content on the streaming service which is surprising us all. So was Swamp Thing just an idea months ago, but now thanks to Crystal Reed who took to Instagram, we now know that it’s becoming real.

Crystal Reed will portray Abby Arcane for the show that’ll hit the platform in 2019, as she’s starring next to Andy Bean who will portray Alec Holland and Derek Mears who will be the terrifying Swamp Thing. Virginia Madsen recently got cast as Maria Sunderland, who switched her old life of privilege for a life living near the swamps of Marais for her her husband, Avery Sunderland. Her husband, however, is obsessed with the swamp and it drove their marriage apart.

They’re not giving away a lot about the show, but we do know that Swamp Thing which is written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman will follow Abby Arcane in a small town in Louisiana, and she will examine a new deadly swamp virus. Of course, this leads her to a discovery of the swamp having terrifying secrets that she will stumble upon, but this will make the show very interesting.

We are excited to see what this show could bring to the DCU, if this is an origin centered show, or if it’s people stumbling upon the Swamp Thing, I’m sure the storytelling will be phenomenal.

Swamp Thing will hit DC Universe’s streaming platform in 2019.
