Angela Kang: Maggie Will Return For ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 10

Although we just said goodbye to Maggie, (without actually saying goodbye) we already know when we will see her again.

It’s revealed in the latest episode of The Walking Dead, Stradivarious that Maggie has left with Hershel to start anew with Georgie. (Georgie is the woman who they’ve been trading food with, and who had a book for how to begin anew when the world ends.) You can read all about how the show say goodbye here.

Angela Kang has confirmed to Comicbook.com that she is in the process of bringing Maggie back for season 10. She says that her and Lauren have been having conversations about her role in the next season.

“We will hopefully come back to Maggie’s story in Season 10. Lauren and I have been texting about some things, and we’re hopefully gonna schedule a conversation, but Georgie’s group is definitely out there in world doing some stuff, and I have some notion of what they’re up to. They may also be part of the universe in general. That’s really up to Scott, but we’ll see how it all plays out.”

What does this mean for The Walking Dead films? Angela Kang says they’ve got all that covered as well.

“[Scott Gimple] sort of checks in with all of the parts of the universe and is kind of making sure that things don’t conflict with each other, or that there are things that kind of lead into things. For example, for us, he kind of came last year and said, ‘So, I gotta write out Rick and the thing that needs to happen for the universe is he needs to be taken off in a helicopter by one of the helicopters that we’ve seen in the show.”

It’s intriguing to hear about the inner workings and plannings of the series events. Even when they are as big as Rick leaving, it starts with one conversation.

Although Angela Kang cannot yet reveal any details about her return, but it could actually tie into the extended Walking Dead Universe they are planning.

“In our minds there’s a lot of things going on in the world around our characters and the way that it intersects with our story. That’s part of what we’re talking about currently.”

We have to say that Maggie’s return isn’t set in stone just yet, but she’s confident enough to share her plans, so we can move forward for right now assuming it’s true. Regardless, Kang reveals she will always have contingency plans in place just incase things don’t quite go as they are supposed to. This case is no different.

“It’s funny, on the show we often do that just no matter what the circumstances are. We often go down multiple paths before we kind of decide on something, but I’m operating off of the idea that hopefully we’ll get Lauren back. We’ve certainly been talking about it, so we’ll see, but yeah.”

Are you glad that Maggie’s headed back to the group?

The Walking Dead mid-season 8 finale airs Sunday at 9 PM ET on AMC.
