‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Recap ‘Tagumo Attacks!!!’

Legends of Tomorrow Recap ‘Tagumo Attacks!!!’

The Legends are off to 1950s Tokyo when they hear word of a giant monster in Tokyo Bay. If left alone, it will destroy the city. Mick and the ladies tackle the monster while Ray tries to figure out a way to heal Constantine, who hasn’t fully recovered from saving the kid last week. Ray believes that the only way to save him is to find Nora. In Tokyo, the team discovers that the monster, Tagumo, isn’t a creature of magic. It is really just a giant monster. What created him is the source of the magic, a book left behind by Brigid that brings to life the vision of an artist. Ishiro Honda created the octopus that will destroy Tokyo, but has no way to stop it. They try writing a new ending in the book, but it doesn’t work. While Sara and Charlie fight the creature, Zari convinces Mick to try his hands at the book. She admits that he is a talented artist, and right now, they need him. The book accepts Mick’s story and his warrior goddess is brought to life to defeat Tagumo.

Meanwhile, Ray comes face to face with Nora and convinces her to come to the Waverider and save Constantine. When she finds out what she has to do, she panics and doesn’t think that she can. In order to save him, she would have to drain the life of someone else. Power for power. Ray comes up with a different method of doing so, harnessing actual energy that she can use. While Ray works on that, Constantine and Nora have a one-on-one. He understands the darkness within her. Nora tells him that she hasn’t wanted to use her powers since her father gave up his life to give her a second chance. She believes that if she does use them, only evil will come of it. Constantine tells her that she has the ability to do good, but she has to believe in herself. In the end, Nora decides to use her magic and saves Constantine. Then, Ray hands her to time stone and tells her to go far away. He just wants her to be free. Nora refuses, taking them to the Time Bureau where she turns herself in. She says the only way to be free it to repent.

During all of this, Nate and Ava are having Thanksgiving with his family. Gary, at the Time Bureau, messes up and three highly dangerous creatures break free. On top of that, Mona had dropped by with food and is exposed to some of what the Bureau really does. Gary reaches out to Nate and Ava. Nate returns to help. They watch the creatures and realize that they’re just “hangry.” That’s when Mona swoops in with a whole lot of knowledge into the three creatures. She runs off to get food for them. Ava is trying to stall at dinner, but Henry is suspicious. He and Ava end up at the Bureau right when Mona returns with the food. The day is saved and Henry isn’t even all that mad that the creatures got out. He tells Ava that he is increasing the budget so they can get the containment center built faster. Henry then says that he’s proud of his son and also really impressed by the ability of their “creature tamer” Mona. So it looks like she’ll be sticking around the Bureau, memories intact this time.

The biggest turn comes at the end of the episode when Henry takes a phone call. He tells the person on the other end of the call that the creatures can be controlled and he wants to move forward with Project Hades. That doesn’t sound good and will come as a heartbreak for Nate because he and Henry have made such good progress in their relationship. What is Project Hades? My guess is using the mythical creatures in a militaristic way. It makes the most sense and would be something that other governments wouldn’t expect. I think this is an interesting move by the series and I can’t wait to see where it’s going to take us. It’s setting up a very different antagonist than we’ve seen on Legends.

Next week’s episode is entitled ‘Tender is the Nate.’
