‘Love is a Gun’: A New Take on Bonnie and Clyde

One of the most iconic duos in cinema history is none other than Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie and Clyde are responsible for countless robberies before being killed by the police in 1934. This new film will be the third fictional adaptation of the Bonnie and Clyde tale.

Love is a Gun is a new take on the tale and will star Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack O’Connell as Bonnie and Clyde. Love is a Gun is based on the book ‘Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde’ by Jeff Guinn. The film will focus on the characters themselves and will detail their love affair.

“We are excited to reintroduce the iconic story of Bonnie and Clyde,” the producing team said in a joint statement. “Their story remains ubiquitous in popular culture across the globe, yet few in this generation know the details of their intimate love affair and the circumstances that led to their notorious crime spree that captured the imagination of the world in their time. Kike, Chloë, and Jack are completely in sync about the character-driven approach we will be taking, and we feel lucky to have a creative team of this high caliber leading us forward,”

Kike Maillo (Toro) will direct the film. Sheldon Turner will write the script, with revisions by Johnny Newman.

Alex Walton, executive vp international film sales and distribution at Endeavor Content adds that “Kiké Maillo brings a modern and edgy take on the universal story of star-crossed lovers, which is renowned around the world, and Chloë and Jack’s casting bring an authenticity to this tragic love story.”

Love is a Gun will begin production in early 2019.
