ABC Orders an Extra Episode of ‘The Conners’

The Conner family is back on ABC, and it looks like they’ll be hanging around a little bit longer than originally expected. The Roseanne spinoff comedy series The Conners has been picked up for one additional episode this season bringing the series run to 11 episodes total.

Originally intended for a short season run, The Conners returned to ABC after the Roseanne revival season was abruptly canceled at the network. Earlier this year, ABC President Channing Dungey announced that the hit comedy revival of Roseanne would be canceled following some controversial tweets from series star Roseanne Barr.

The Conners premiered last earlier this month producing solid ratings on its first episode. While no one expected the series to pull off the rating records that the revival season produced, the show still managed to match the revival’s finale numbers. Additionally, The Conners premiered as TV’s number 1 series to debut this season, TV’s most-watched series debut since The Good Doctor last September and the ABC’s most-watched comedy debut in 4 years. All in all, not a bad start for the Conners clan.

The Conners stars John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky), Michael Fishman (D.J.), Emma Kenney (Harris), Ames McNamara (Mark) and Jayden Rey (Mary) as their beloved Conner characters, with the new and talented addition of Maya Lynne Robinson (Geena).

Tom Werner executive produce, along with Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez. Helford, Caplan, and Rasmussen are also writers.

The Conners airs Tuesday nights at 8 pm on ABC.
