Sandra Bullock’s New Netflix Movie ‘Bird Box’ Looks Perfect For ‘Quiet Place’ Fans
This past week, Netflix released the first trailer for their upcoming Sandra Bullock film Bird Box and it looks incredible. I was almost surprised to see that it wasn’t going to be a nationwide theatrical release! The horror film is based on Josh Malerman’s debut novel of the same name and features a premise somewhat reminiscent of 2018’s breakout hit A Quiet Place, where any sort of noise would get a character killed. Except in Bird Box, it’s the sense of sight that’s taken away.
Thanks to Netflix’s Press Release, here’s the synopsis for Bird Box:
[row]When a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope, and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.[/row]
Essentially, the post-apocalyptic drama finds monsters taking on the shape of someone’s worst fear, which results in them horrifically killing themselves. This means that in order to survive, you need to be blindfolded. In addition to the Academy Award Winning Sandra Bullock, Bird Box also stars Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, BD Wong, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, and John Malkovich.

Bird Box was directed by The Night’s Manager’s Susanne Bier with a screenplay written by Eric Heisserer. It’s set to hit Netflix (and select theaters) on December 21st!
What do you think of the trailer? Is Bird Box a movie you’d be interested in seeing? Let us know!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
