Scarlett Johansson Reportedly Receives $15 Million Black Widow Payday

After several years on the franchise, and six films as Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson has just been given quite a large pay raise from Marvel. She landed a $15 million payday for an up-coming stand-alone film revolving around Black Widow.

The amount she will be making is equivalent to what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth made for playing the roles of Captain America and Thor in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. It was the same case for Evans and Hemsworth in Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok and they are expected to make another $15 million from Avengers 4.

After making her debut in 2012’s Avengers movie, Johansson raked in a seven-figure salary, which is quite low compared to Robert Downey Jr.’s $50 million. Nevertheless, Robert Downey Jr. made just $500,000 on his first Iron Man film. It seems marvel was less frivolous with newbies, at a time.

Chadwick Boseman made $42 million for the Black Panther film according to sources, which is well above Downey’s first appearance. His salary is expected to go even higher for a Black Panther sequel.

These numbers seem to be outrageous, a feat not many studios can undertake, but they are quite sensible for the MCU, which is now 10 years into its success.

The talent deals for Infinity Wars budget add up to more than $100, but each Avengers movie easily crosses the $1 billion worldwide mark. Infinity War totaled an impressive $2 billion.

Marvel knows that the actors of these films help promote the films to the audiences with good film performances.

After the news circulated, a rep from Marvel had this to say,

“Marvel Studios disputes the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms.”

So, it may or may not be true, but the longtime Marvel veteran most likely did receive a significant pay raise for her standalone film.
