The series follows the “whirlwind romance between Debra Newell (Britton) and the charismatic con-man John Meehan (Bana) that spiraled into a frightening web of deception, denial and mental terror that nearly tore a family apart.” It will feature eight hour-long episodes that will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner. Dirty John was created by Alexandra Cunningham who will also serve as showrunner.

The trailer shows Debra, a mother of two who seemingly has a perfect life but longs for a partner, becoming quickly infatuated a handsome doctor named John. The photos above may look as though everything is sweet as sugar, but as things move rather fast between the pair, Debra’s daughters grow more and more skeptical of the man wiggling his way into their lives, resulting in tension between the three women. Things continue to go from bad to worse and Debra becomes more seduced by his psychological manipulation and dishonesty. Check out the trailer below!
