News for Fans, By Fans!

Robert Kirkman’s Skybound is Saving Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead: The Final Season’!

Great news for fans who were devastated by the recent news that Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season wouldn’t be seeing the light of day. Gamers who have put years into the game were not going to get to see Clemetine through to the end, and neither were its creators.

Saturday night at the huge New York Comic Con Walking Dead panel at Madison Square Garden, Robert Kirkman dropped the news that Skybound is stepping in to take the final season to its proper finish. Skybound will be taking over the development and will publish the game!

Even better, they hope to keep the original team on board so as not to divulge from where the season was meant to go.

This will be a new avenue for Skybound, and according to Variety, they are working hard to get it done!

“We’ll (Skybound) be taking over Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ to finish Clem’s story. We can’t lose Clementine and Rick in the same year.” Kirkman announced in front of an audience of fans.

Last month, Telltale Games suddenly closed, and laid off the lion’s share of its 274 employees. They were let go with little notice or severance. One employee filed a lawsuit saying that the company violated state and federal laws with the unexpected layoffs.

AMC and Smilegate had been in talks to revive the company, but that seemed to fall through.

The CEO of Telltale Pete Hawley has been releasing brief statements and continued to tell fans to stay tuned.

It seems that Skybound and Robert Kirkman swooped in because his official announcement was made just weeks after the closure.

Creator of The Walking Dead Robert Kirkman, created Skybound Entertainment in 2010 in order to further develop media properties with television, video games, film and digital media. They recently created Skybound Games to start their own games.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead is solely based on Kirkman’s comics that started it all.
