David Harbour’s ‘Hellboy’ Reboot Delayed Until Spring 2019

Good things come to those who wait, and we’ll have to wait just a bit longer to see the new Hellboy reboot hit theaters in 2019.

The reboot starring Stranger Things actor David Harbour was originally slated to hit theaters in January of 2019. On Wednesday, Summit Entertainment announced that the film had been pushed back three months. Hellboy will now premiere on April 12, 2019.

Originally created by Mike Mignola in 1993, the Hellboy comic series centers around a demon summoned by the Nazis during World War II from a portal to a paranormal dimension. Years later, the demon is all grown up and is serving as an agent to protect America from dark and evil forces. The first film in the franchise was released in 2004 and starred Perlman, Selma Blair, and Doug Jones. A sequel to the film was released in 2008.

The Hellboy reboot currently stars Harbour as the title character, Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchel as Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim as Daimio. The official synopsis for the film is listed below:

[row]“The film is about Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.”[/row]
