AMC CEO Says ‘The Walking Dead’ Will be Here for the Next Decade

If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, and wish it could last forever, you may just be granted your wish. The series, based on the long running comics by Robert Kirkman, will not end any time soon.

AMC plans to have the franchise running for the next decade, AMC networks CEO Josh Sapan stated recently. He was speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communicacopia Conference and addressing the show’s steadily and significantly decreasing ratings when he made the statement.

The Walking Dead is a universe. And we have a plan to manage over the next decade, plus. That plan is a careful plan to respect the world of the fans of that world.” He said.

He also reminded the many investors of the success of Fear The Walking Dead, especially this season.

The upcoming ninth season of the show will face some of the toughest challenges yet. Andrew Lincoln is leaving the series. Although that will shake things up, the new season is definitely a redefining point for the beloved show. The first three episodes will hit fans with some unexpected moments that make you feel like you’re watching the original seasons, and having watched them I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

With the time jump and a newly planted life for the group, it truly is a new show than we’ve become used to over the past 5 seasons.

Show runner Angela Kang recently explained more about the new season and its revamped image.

We’re jumping into a new chapter of the story where our characters are rebuilding and nature is thriving — for better and worse.” She said.

What do you think? Do you want to see The Walking Dead go on for another decade?

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Season 9 premieres on October 7th on AMC.
