’13 Reasons Why’ Alum Katherine Langford Returns to Netflix for ‘Cursed’

Katherine Langford may not be returning to 13 Reasons Why as Hannah Baker for the show’s upcoming third season, but she will be returning to Netflix for a new series from Frank Miller titled Cursed. According to Varietythe series is “a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue. It is a coming-of-age story whose themes include the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”

Langford will be stepping into the role of Nimue, “a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful Lady of the Lake.” Miller co-created the series with Tom Wheeler who will serve as both writer and showrunner. Wheeler also has plans to write a companion book titled Cursed with illustrations from Miller. It is set to be published in the Fall of 2019. Zetna Fuentes, who has directed shows like One Life to Live, Bosch, How to Get Away with Murder, and Jessica Jones, will step behind the camera for Cursed and executive produce the first two episodes.

13 Reasons Why was Langford’s first major role, in which she starred as the ill-fated Hannah Baker, a young woman who leaves a series of tapes behind after her suicide to those who played a part in her decision. She announced after season two that she would not be returning should the show be renewed for a third season (which it was) back in May. She received a Golden Globe nomination for the role in 2018.
