Showrunner Angela Kang Explains ‘The Walking Dead’s New Bright Season 9 Logo
When it comes to AMC’s The Walking Dead, every detail surrounding the show has a specific meaning. Throughout the show’s past eight seasons, fans have noticed the distinct details and increasing decay of the series’ main logo. Over the years, the logo has darkened, begun to crack and just show increasing signs of deterioration.
Earlier this week, AMC revealed the brand new logo for the upcoming ninth season. When compared to the eight logos that have come before it, season nine’s art is noticeably brighter, less decayed and is even appears to be covered in green moss. It’s almost as if the logo has begun to rebuild itself and the green moss is showing signs of new life for the upcoming season. As it turns out, that’s exactly what The Walking Dead was going for with the new, brighter image.
Check out the new logo below.
Showrunner Angela Kang recently chatted with Insider and spoke about the meaning behind the logo’s new look. Kang said:
[row]“In previous seasons, the logo in the main titles was gradually decaying along with the world and the zombies in the show. The solid stone letters overgrown with greenery in the season 9 logo reflects the fact that we’re jumping into a new chapter of the story where our characters are rebuilding and nature is thriving — for better and worse.”[/row]
The Walking Dead‘s ninth season will certainly be jumping to a new chapter. The new season will pick up a year and a half after the conclusion of season 8. The time jump will allow the communities time to rebuild and resettle down into a way of life after the all-out-war storyline, all the while, nature continues to run its course. Along with the time jump comes new relationships, new obstacles, and, of course, new threats. Season nine is sure to be one that fans won’t soon forget, despite the brighter beginnings.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC with all new episode starting Sunday, October 7th at 9 PM EST.
