UPDATE: Alec Baldwin Parts from Role as Thomas Wayne in ‘Joker’

CR: Warner Bros. - DC Comics - Alan Moore: The Killing Joke

UPDATE:

Alec Baldwin officially stated in an interview with USA Today, that he has a scheduling conflict and will no longer be in the Joker origin movie. Baldwin was supposed to be portraying Thomas Wayne as a chliché businessman.

“I’m no longer doing that movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.” – Alec Baldwin to USA Today

It worries me that it’s so close to the start of production, but I’m sure that Todd Phillips is making sure to have another actor ready before the start of production.

What do you think of Alec Baldwin moving away from the movie? Let us know in the comments below.

It’s been a pleasant last 24 hours for the Joker origin movie that Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Watchdogs) is directing. Last night we got the announcement that Hildur Gudnadottir is writing the score for Joker. Next to Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Robert DeNiro, Bryan Callen, and Marc Maron, now Alec Baldwin joins the team.

Alec Baldwin, famous for his role in Beetlejuice, where he portrayed the character of Adam, a husband who died next to his wife in a car crash, and is ready to haunt the new people out of their house. Baldwin will now portray the role of Thomas Wayne.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Thomas Wayne is going to be the cliché, tanned businessman. No more details were released on his role as Thomas Wayne. If they really are going to follow The Killing Joke by Alan Moore, then we definitely will see a Batman in the mix. It follows the story of how the clown prince of crime became the man we know today. I’m just a little confused as to what Thomas Wayne has to do in this context. Or Thomas Wayne is Batman like in the flashpoint comics (damn it, Barry). Seeing he’s playing a cliché businessman though, is throwing me off completely.

What do you think of Alec Baldwin cast as Thomas Wayne? What do you think this means for Joaquin Phoenix‘ Joker? Let us know in the comments below.

Joker will start production in a good two weeks in New York and will hit theaters on October 4, 2019.
