‘The Walking Dead’ EP Celebrates International Friendship Day with a BTS Throwback Picture

Over the next few months leading up to the premiere of The Walking Dead‘s ninth season (and Andrew Lincoln’s final season), you can bet you’ll be seeing a ton of love and memories being shared by cast and crew members on the series. Without a doubt, the ninth season will forever hold a special place in their hearts, but executive producer Gale Anne Hurd is throwing it back to another season which is unforgettable, even for the fans.

On Sunday, Hurd celebrated International Friendship Day by sharing a throwback photo of herself with everyone’s favorite leading man, Andrew Lincoln, but there’s more to her post than just a photo. This particular photograph just so happens to be from back in 2010, according to Hurd, while filming the pilot for what would become one of the biggest pop culture phenomena of all time.

Hurd captioned the photo with a sweet and funny nod to Lincoln. She wrote, “Happy #InternationalFriendshipDay My Twitter handle photo is from our #TWD pilot shoot in 2010. I was so happy to be on set with the amazing #AndrewLincoln (I’m wearing my #Arsenal jersey, not realizing that he’s a diehard #ManUnited fan).”

Check out her post below.

Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes) confirmed his speculated exit during last month’s San Diego Comic-Con Hall H Panel. In addition to Lincoln’s exit, Lauren Cohan (who plays Maggie Rhee on the series) has commented that her future on series in limbo as she has begun working on her new show, ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier.  In a recent interview, Cohan commented that Maggie’s story is still open-ended but that her character does not die. She said, “I’m so grateful that this has been my stomping ground for so long, and my family here is never gone. Maggie’s story is open-ended.”

Both Cohan and Lincoln are said to appear in just six episodes in the upcoming season, but fans will have to wait and see what will become of their favorite characters when The Walking Dead returns to AMC with new episodes starting on October 7th.
