‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Won’t be Part of the 2018 Crossover Event

Legends of Tomorrow Won’t be Part of the 2018 Crossover Event

The Arrowverse has become known for their impressive crossover events in which characters from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow team up to defeat some new evil. In 2016, it was aliens; 2017, Nazis from Earth-X. A few weeks ago, it was revealed that the focus of this year’s crossover will introduce us to Gotham City and Batwoman. During San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, it was announced that Legends of Tomorrow would not be a part of the event.

Actress Caity Lotz (Sara Lance) chimed in on the Legends sitting this one out.

“Tonally, we are so different from those other shows at this point, it’s hard to jump back into that world with the other Arrow-verse shows. And we did it last year, and it was of course this gargantuan production and pre-production. It was crazy. For four shows to do that again, and to try and make it bigger than last time, I just don’t think it’s possible. I think the crossovers are going to be a lot different in general than what we’ve seen, and certainly our absence will be felt, because they are gonna miss us for sure.”

Legends of Tomorrow is certainly different from the other three shows in the Arrowverse, not being afraid to go way over the top. The season ended with a giant Beebo defeating the demon Mallus with a body slam of love. It really doesn’t get more ridiculous than that. Lotz also added that with the Legends absence, it leaves more room for character development, which makes sense considering the crossover is meant to establish Batwoman and set her up for her own TV series.

The Legends will certainly be missed, but the excitement for the crossover event is still there as every year proves to be a fun couple of hours. It will be a shame to not get the awesome moment of seeing 20 superheroes crammed aboard the Waverider or doing a slow motion walk into battle, but in exchange, we’re finally going to get a live action Batwoman and the Arrowverse’s version of Gotham City.
