Joaquin Phoenix’ Joker Origin Film Gets 2019 Release Date & Title

Things are moving faster than ever, with the Birds Of Prey movie well on its way, and the Joker Origin movie directed by Todd Phillips starring Joaquin Phoenix, fans are in for a treat!

Mark your calendars on October 4, 2019, because that’s when this untitled Joker Origin movie is going to get released into the world. The film will have a familiar storyline, written by Todd Phillips and co-scripted Scott Silver, and it’ll be based on The Killing Joke by Alan Moore. For the people who don’t know the storyline of The Killing Joke, it’s about a man that tries to provide for his family by being a comedian. The failed and miserable life turned out to be the thing that drove him insane in the end, and all that was left was the man we know today; The Joker.

Earlier we heard that it could tie up in the same timeline as The Batman movie, but no other announcements were made about this. It’s mostly a waiting game now, as SDCC started today and production is set to begin in September, we won’t get our first footage just yet.

How much of the storyline do you think they’ll use for the origin movie? At least we know that Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips are doing everything to make a great film that DC Comics will release under a new name (most like to call it DC Dark).

Deadline also announced that the new title instead of the rumored ‘Romeo,’ is going to be titled… Joker. Yes, you read that right, they’re keeping it simple for the origin movie. Less is always more, I have complete trust in what they’re doing in the DC Comics world.

Who would you like to see cast in this movie? What do you think about the title? Let us know in the comments below.

The untitled Joker Origin movie will hit the theaters on October 4, 2019.
