Legendary actor, writer, and producer Christopher Lloyd is arguably best known for his iconic role of Doctor Emmett Brown in the classic 80s Back to the Future film series. Nowadays, Lloyd is still acting. He just recently had a guest appearance on the Roseanne revival series for example. Additionally, he’s co-creator and producer on the ABC hit series Modern Family.

In a recent interview with the Phoenix New Times, he was asked about his willingness to do another Back to the Future film, if the opportunity presented itself. Of course, Lloyd was totally game for that idea. Perhaps more surprisingly, as it turns out, Lloyd would also like to be involved in a different kind of project related to Back to the Future.

We’re talking, of course, about Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty is a hilarious animated series which follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. The premise of the series is loosely based on Back to Future with the two titular characters parodying Doc Brown (Lloyd) and Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox).

When asked if he was a fan of the cartoon series, Lloyd responded by saying while he may not watch the show religiously, he has seen it and, yes, he is a fan. He said, “I don’t follow it closely, but I’ve seen a few episodes and I gotta tell you, I think it’s a lot of fun. I know it’s some kind of parody of Doc and Marty.”

The Phoenix New Times then asked Lloyd if he’d be interested in guest starring on the show, maybe as Rick’s father or something along those lines. Lloyd is definitely up to the challenge! He responded by saying, “I’d like to, of course. I think it’s really fun (Chuckles) Yeah, yeah. That’d be fun.”

How iconic would it be to have the Back to the Future world collide with the Rick and Morty world? The results, we’re sure, would be pretty amazing.

Lloyd just might get the chance to do it as there is a whole lot more of Rick and Morty coming our way in not so distant future. Back in May of this year, show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland announced that they had signed a long-term deal with Adult Swim which includes seventy (yes, 7-0) brand new episodes of the beloved animated series. Harmon and Roiland made the announcement via Instagram (and Dan’s shower) which is really just something you have to see for yourself.
