James Mangold Addresses Rumors of Boba Fett Spinoff

Lucasfilm’s mysteries will forever mystify.

The moment Disney purchased Lucasfilm, there were also new projects which came with their new acquisition. These projects were unrelated to Skywalker Saga films, which brought about conversation about which characters and events would get their own film. Boba Fett, the bounty hunter, has turned out to be a fan favorite and it is about time for his spin-off film to get going. Now, some are suggesting there is no such project by Logan writer/director James Mangold.

A twitter user recently sent a message to Mangold just to say that the “Boba Fett movie = Worst idea ever,” Mangold then said something that may shoot down the Boba Fett film rumors altogether.

“Look what I got from a self-proclaimed ‘lover of life’! Seriously Blackbird, chill. I’m making a period car racing movie w/ Christian Bale & Matt Damon. No Mandalorians involved. Stop reading so much gossip.”

Before the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, rumors erupted that Mangold is creating a new story based on Boba Fett. Since then, more information was released which basically cancelled out all future spinoffs from Lucasfilm. There’s a chance he was working on the film, but he definitely is no longer.

There were disappointments that came with Solo since its release, schedule, storyline, and audience negativity which lead to the film under-performing. After which, the reports hit that Lucasfilm was putting completely stopping the development of spin-off films. They were now supposedly focusing just on Rian Johnson’s new trilogy, the Game of Thrones Creator’s films, and Episode IX.

Those claims were taken back once more, so s it now stands, the film will most likely still be made, just without Mangold at the helm.

Star Wars Episode IX hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
