‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ will be at SDCC

San Diego Comic Con is coming up fast and with several studuis not being able to make it for filming conflicts and little news, one huge guest just confirmed its attendance. If we aren’t careful, he’ll knock the whole city down. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be there, as confirmed by filmmaker Mike Dougherty via twitter.

Dougherty is known for his work on Trick r Treat and Krampus. His tweet was in response to a fan’s question but there were no confirmations about the upcoming Godzilla movie.

Mike replaced Gareth Edwards who was director in 2014’s Godzilla. The director was originally supposed to be part of the new film but he dropped out of the project for his own reasons. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary’s next installment in the franchise.

So far, the only promotional announcements have described the film as “an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history.”

The new film revolves around the heroic trials of Monarch, crypto-zoological agency while those who work for it battle a slew of larger-than-life monsters. They include Godzilla of course. Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed King Ghidorah, also appear. The creatures battle it out to see who will be the prime ruler and they put the entire likes of humanity in dangers doing so.

This eventually leads to a meeting with King Kong (Godzilla vs. Kong) planned for 2020, put together by director Adam Wingard. This is also a sequel to Kong: Skull Island, which suggests characters from that may also appear in this film.

The film “stomps into Hall H” during the pop culture festival which is expected to run from July 18 to 22 in San Diego.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters has a cast of Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farming (Bates Motel), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Bradley Whitford (The West Wing), and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights).

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will hit theaters on March 22, 2019.
