Fallen Kingdom joins the ranks of two other films to hit the $1 billion milestone this year, which unsurprisingly were Marvel’s Black Panther and Infinity War.  According to ComicBook.comFallen Kingdom is the 35th film to hit the coveted $1 billion mark. While it’s raked in an impressive $304 million in the US since its June 22 release, it’s Fallen Kingdom’s overseas total of $700 million that’s truly astounding. The film earned $245 million alone in China.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has won both of its box office weekends, earning$150 million opening weekend and an additional $60 million its second weekend, which was impressive in its own right seeing as only 25 films have ever made over 60 million in their second weekend in theaters.

While the numbers are really exciting for the franchise, which has a third and final film on the way, they will probably fall short of the monetary success of 2015’s Jurassic World, which earned $1.671 billion globally and became the fifth biggest film in global box office history. With Ant-Man and The Wasp flying into theaters this weekend, chances are Fallen Kingdom will have to say goodbye to its box office reign for a little while.

Now in theaters, Fallen Kingdom finds a dormant volcano roaring to life on Isla Nublar, propelling Owen and Claire to start a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from extinction, which then leads them to secrets much darker than they could have ever imagined. Directed by J.A. Bayona, the film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwell.
