Sheryl Crow to Release Last Album

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Sheryl Crow, appeared on Kyle Meredith With … Podcast Friday, where she disclosed her plans to release a new album in 2019. Not only will it be new, but it will be her last.

Although the album is supposedly her final album, the 56 year old artist did not in any way insinuate that she was done making music.

On the podcast, she said:

“Albums as an art form are kind of a little bit of a dying art form. People are more interested in singles, so I made the decision in my head that the record that comes out next year will be my last full album. I’ll start putting songs out, and that feels good to me.”

Fans can expect this new album to be full of life and of course star-studded, featuring various artists. We’re talking big ones: Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, The Rolling Stones‘ Keith Richards, The Eagles‘ Don Henley, and singer St. Vincent.

“It feels great not to spend time in the studio to make a fully realized conceptual album, but just to put out really pertinent songs that feel immediate,” Crow said according to EW.

Crow is well known for her warm summer hits such as ‘Soak Up The Sun’, ‘If It Makes You Happy’, ‘The First Cut is The Deepest’, ‘All I Wanna Do’, and ‘Steve McQueen’.

The popular singer said she came into the music’s technology age of streaming services and singles unwilling to embrace the change. It seems every industry changed significantly with the times. However, she has taught herself to slowly embrace the fast pace of technology in music and the immediacy it comes with. She did not forget to point out that her fans should expect to get her upcoming singles through the digital distribution website Stem, which allows artists to track and organize revenue from their music.

If her final album is anything like her past hits, we will be cruising, jamming, and remembering the good times.

Now get out there and Soak Up The Sun for Sheryl Crow! (But wear sunscreen.)
